What it is
The most serious class. It must be corrected IMMEDIATELY — Class 2 and Class 3 allow 40 days — and certified to DOB's Administrative Enforcement Unit through DOB NOW: Safety. If re-inspection finds the condition still there, or no acceptable Certificate of Correction on file, DOB may impose a $5,000 civil penalty at construction sites over four families and re-inspect every 60 days. Failing to promptly certify correction can also carry a one-time $1,500 civil penalty.
